Africatown Plaza: A Love Letter to the Community
Africatown Plaza is a groundbreaking project aimed at combatting the affects of gentrification acting in service of displaced communities offering them an opportunity to “return home”. This transformative development is designed to be a hub of activity, commerce, and socialization, reflecting the essence of the community it serves - Seattle’s Central District.
Project Specifications
Located in the heart of the Central District, The Plaza spans 5 acres of prime real estate and boasts 126 units of affordable housing offered to income qualified applicants.
The centerpiece of the project is a modern marketplace featuring a variety of shops, restaurants, and community spaces.
Surrounding the marketplace are residential apartments, green spaces, and cultural centers honoring the Central District’s rich legacy - both city and region-wide.
